Why Spring Preparation Matters
After winter, soil becomes compacted and depleted of nutrients. Taking the time to properly prepare your soil before planting ensures that Doe Kyay Latt fertilizers can work at maximum potential from day one of the growing season.
Step 1 — Test Your Soil
Before applying any amendments, perform a basic soil test to reveal your soil's pH and nutrient profile. This allows you to apply the correct type and quantity of fertilizer rather than guessing.
Step 2 — Aerate Compacted Areas
Use a garden fork or mechanical aerator to loosen compacted soil. Good aeration improves oxygen flow to roots and helps water and nutrients penetrate more deeply into the root zone.
Step 3 — Incorporate Organic Compost
Mix Doe Kyay Latt Premium Organic Compost into the top 6 inches of soil, aiming for about one bucket of compost per square meter. This immediately improves soil structure, water retention, and microbial activity.
Step 4 — Balance the pH
If your soil is too acidic (below pH 6), apply agricultural lime. If too alkaline (above pH 7.5), incorporate sulfur or additional organic matter. Most vegetables and fruits prefer a pH between 6.0 and 7.0.
Step 5 — Pre-Plant Fertilizer Application
Two weeks before planting, apply Doe Kyay Latt All-Purpose Plant Food as a base dressing. This gives the organic nutrients time to integrate with the soil before your crops are established, ensuring strong early growth.
